drop the json is a small set of free JSON tools that run entirely in your browser: an auto-formatter, a validator, a minifier and a JSON to CSV converter, plus a few guides on the errors people hit most.

Why another formatter

Most JSON tools make you click a button and send your data to a server. This one formats the moment you stop typing, and never uploads anything — the whole site is static HTML served from a CDN, with no backend to send data to. That makes it safe for API keys, customer records and internal payloads.

How it works

Each page is a single HTML file. Parsing uses the browser's native JSON.parse; when strict parsing fails, the formatter falls back to a lenient parser that repairs single quotes, unquoted keys, trailing commas and comments. Your last input and settings are kept in your browser's localStorage so a refresh does not lose work.
